Linda Edna Cardellini is the daughter of Lorraine (Hernan), a mother, and Wayne David Cardellini (a father), who is a businessman. She was trained in acting in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and began her career in the British TV show Just William (2010). Her breakout moment came in the year 2015 when she played the lead role in Cinderella, a fantasy film. She had previously played the role of Lady Rose MacClare as part of the period show Downton Abbey. James was then cast as The Countess Natasha Rostova on the TV version of War & Peace in 2016.
