Kristen Anne Bell is an American singer and actress born in 1980. She was born and raised in Huntington Woods, Michigan, and is the daughter of Lorelei (Frygier), Nurse, and Tom Bell, a television news director. Her ancestry is Polish (mother) as well as German, English, Irish and Scottish (father). Kristen was already an accomplished performer from a young age. She won her role as Raggedy Ann in 1992 after having attended her first audition. Bell had an agent appointed by her mother prior to the age of 13 and was subsequently cast as a model in newspapers and television commercials. Also, she began private acting classes at this time. Bell played an uncredited part of Polish Wedding (1998), a film released in 1998. Bell was a member of the music and drama groups of Shrine Catholic High School. Bell was cast as Dorothy in the school production that was The Wizard of Oz. Bell then moved into New York City, to the Tisch School of the Arts. She studied musical theater there. Bell quit studying in the year 2001 and began playing Becky the character of Tom Sawyer. Her first film credit in Pootie Tang during 2001. However, her scene cut, and Bell's only role is the final credits. Bell played in the Broadway revival The Crucible starring Liam Neeson as well as Angela Bettis.
